Old Goa ...
Old Goa is about 9 Kms from Panaji and it was the second capital of Bijapur under the rule of Adil Shah. The city was surrounded by a moat and contained the Adil Shah's palace. The city was under Portuguese rule from 1510 and became the capital of Portuguese India until its incorporation in the Republic of India.

There are lots of churches affiliated to various congregations, including the Se Cathedral, church of St Francis of Assisi, church of S. Caetano, and church of Basilica of Bom Jesus where the incorruptible body of St. Francis Xavier is kept in a glass box.
