Dwarka in Gujarat, is a significant pilgrimage place for the Hindus

Dwarka is situated in the extreme west of Gujarat in the Saurashtra peninsula on the Arabian Sea, featuring most of the legends surrounding Lord Krishna. It is said that from here that the Lord Krishna is supposed to have ruled his kingdom in Dwarka. Dwarka is built on the bank of Gamut creek. Dwarka is a significant pilgrimage place for the Hindus.

In Puranic times, Dwarka was known as Kushasthali or Dwaravati and enjoyed pride of place as the most important spot on the Saurashtra coast. Dwarka is the place where Lord Krishna is supposed to have ruled his kingdom. It is also a significant pilgrimage place for the Hindus. The seat of Adi Shankaracharya.
