Matheran - Mumbai (Maharashtra)

Matheran is another hill station, situated 104 kms from Mumbai. Matheran is located at an altitude of 800 meters. It is linked to Mumbai by rail. A Two hours journey gets you to Neral from where you transfer to a toy train to cover the remaining terrain. Monsoons in Matheran amidst the swirling mists is a treat. All year through you can breathe easier in this hill station, where cars are banned leaving the air cleaner and the roads free for pedestrians. There are lots of places to see with suggestive names like Honeymoon Hill and Panther's Cave.
